The RSPB has transformed former carrot fields into wetlands supporting Kingfishers, Bittern and Cranes. We should also see the likes of Hobbys, chasing dragonflies, and Marsh Harriers.   Station Rd., Lakenheath, Brandon, Thetford, Suffolk IP27 9AD   Facilities: Visitor Centre

This Nottinghamshire site is a former quarry which is being returned to nature. There are reedbeds and woodlands aplenty. Bittern is the target bird No facilities but a good garden centre nearby
